General Information
After having identified a common interest in collaborating for the improvement of quality in local educational services and convinced of the need of offering the teaching staff of the pre-schools the possibility of enhancing their skills the members of the Sweden Emilia-Romagna Network (SERN), agreed to set up an exchange programme of pre-school staff in the context of the SERN for the period 2008-2010.
The exchanges of pre-school staff will last for two weeks at each time where Italian participants come to a study visit in a Swedish pre-school and vice versa. During the two weeks the participant will follow a tutor from the hosting pre- school in her/his daily scheduled work with the aim of observing the various activities of the day both indoors and outdoors.
The objectives of the pre-school staff exchange are:
1) To deepen the knowledge on the organizational settings in which the pre-schools
operate and on the educational services they offer, with particular attention
given to the value of the pedagogical environment both indoor and outdoor,
to the process of interaction as well as to the value transmitted by the
educators;
2) To analyse how the working schemes are organized for the benefit and
growth of the “competent child”;
3)To examine how the pre-school family relation is organized.
The participating institutions have established a coordination group that consists of four representatives (two from each country). The coordination group will carry out the following tasks:
- Collect information from the participating institutions, facilitate teacher
placements and supervise the exchanges
- Draft the protocol concerning activities carried out during the exchanges
and adjust it in due course
- Elaborate tools and identify criteria for the evaluation of the exchanges
- Draft the programme of the evaluation/dissemination seminar
In order to carry out the above mentioned tasks the coordination group will meet twice a year before the beginning of each session of exchange. The participation in the exchange agreement is based on reciprocity. This means that each signatory party shall act both a sending and as a hosting organization.
